The 4hr CBD-Gaine is back to kick start your 2021.  This event is all about exploring the art, culture, history and parkland of inner city Melbourne. With a focus on fun, finding new parts of the city and introducing friends to Rogaining, this will be a fast-scoring event. Walk, run or public transport to get around inner city Melbourne.

A typical UooUoo to be found around the city during the CBD-Gaine

The UooUoo CBD-Gaine 2021 will start from Flagstaff Gardens and the CBD is included on the map.  During February and until 21 March 2021, the cities of Melbourne and Geelong will be taken over by Me and UooUoo. One hundred UooUoo sculptures, all uniquely designed by Australia’s most talented artists, will form walking trails of discovery and adventure for all to enjoy.  Some Checkpoints may be at UooUoo features and you're sure to notice them while CBD-Gaining.

A perfect event for novices and good fun for those who have done it all before. This is also the perfect event for families with short distances between checkpoints, pram friendly streets and heaps of close by playgrounds (all playgrounds are worth 100 points).

There will be no post event catering however there are plenty of opportunities for top quality coffee, a taste of Melbourne cuisine or a quick stop at a convenience store to refuel.

CovidSafe Event Plan and Checklist

Click to view our CovidSafe Event Checklist and Covid Safe Event Plan.  The CBD-Gaine is permitted as a Tier 3 event.  There are requirement defined in the CovidSafe Event Check list, with our plan described in the Covid Safe Event Plan.  Please read these to understand our plan and our requirements of you.   Please appreciate these requirements have created additional planning and on the day volunteer work.

Summary of what will be different to stay Covid Safe:

When entering you will have the option to enter 1 of 7 events. The only difference is the wave start time. Please enter the event starting at a time of your preference and note you must check in and start at that time on the day. This is a Covid safe requirement to limit groups to 100 or less.
As start times fill up, entries for some start times will be closed.  if there is high demand for this event, we will close entries prior to late date if sold out.

If on event day you are in anyway a Covid risk (Refer to our Covid Safe plan) do not attend and contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for a full refund.  In the event any of our events are cancelled for any reason our policy is to pay a full refund. Refer our Refund Policy. Teams who pay by Paypal will be able to receive their refund much quicker and with less volunteer effort.  Bpays cannot be refunded and requires us to arrange an EFT to your bank account.

Pay with Credit or Debit card
You may now pay via Credit or Debit card and Bpay payment remains available.   To pay via Paypal, complete your entry, view your team, click View Invoice and scroll down to the Paypal option and click Submit Payment.  To pay by credit card without logging on to a Paypal account click "Pay with Debit or Credit Card.      Note: Paypal do the secure handling of your Credit/Debit card details.

Check in at Event
Please do not arrive to check in more than 30 minutes before your selected start time. This ensures our groups of 100 do not interact with each other at the start.
Check in still requires all team members to be there. Only one team contact will approach the Check in desk while other team members stay 1.5m back. Once checked in and map and score sheet received move directly to the briefing area ready for your start.
There will be minimal course planning time between Check in and Briefing. To allow course planning we will make the map available to download from Friday 26-Feb. Ensure you have your correct email address in the Rogaine entry system otherwise you will not receive communication about where to access the online map. Please also verify your phone number as that is required should contact tracing be required.  Because we suspect many people do not have their correct phone number in their member record we will also ask each team member their phone number on the Indemnity form incase contact tracing is required.

You must attend briefing. You will be issued with the question sheet at Briefing shortly before your start. For your own protection move away from the briefing entry to maintain your Covid spacing. Our intention is all teams can maintain 1.5mtr spacing however this is probably a good time to be wearing your mask until teams disperse.
Briefing will provide a reminder of important rules.

We ask you to finish in the 20 minutes before your scheduled finish time to limit your finish group to the same people you started with. The few people finishing earlier or later may be linked to more than one wave start group in the event of contacts needing to be traced.
At the finish (near finish tent) present your score sheet to our finish Volunteer who will record your finish time on the score sheet and the volunteer  will keep the score sheet. You must have completed your answers on the score sheet before finishing.
There will be no results available post the event and no refreshments. For Covid reasons we need to ask you to finish and move away quickly to minimise gathering and interaction of people from different wave starts. (This is not how we want to run, however this is a Covid limitation when running waves only 30 minutes apart.)

Starting from the Flagstaff Gardens.

The course uses question and multiple choice answer checkpoints. The questions are intended to confirm your visit to the checkpoint and not test your IQ. Checkpoints are set on points of interest as much as possible. Find the location on the Map then find the answer to the question matching a multiple choice answer and marking off A, B, C or D on you answer sheet.
This event is suitable for all levels of walking, running, pram and baby backpack teams. There is no cycling (Cyclogaine), however using Public Transport is allowed. Bring your myki as you must pay to use public transport outside of the free tram zone. Note that the hash house is outside of the free tram zone.
